Titanik artist-in-residence programme (Turku, Finland) offers one- to three-month residencies for artists working in the intersection of sound and contemporary art. The application period is 5 – 31 March 2018, and the call is for the year 2019.
Titanik residency is run by Arte Artists’ Association in Turku, southwestern coast of Finland. Titanik A.i.R programme has been running since 2006, shifting its focus to sound in 2013, which made it the first sound art residency in Finland.
We provide a working space (20m2), which is adjoined to the contemporary art space Titanik, located in the city centre on the shore of the river Aura. The residency includes a possibility for exhibiting in the A.i.R. studio space. Additionally, the artists may arrange a public event (e.g. a screening, a performance) during the residency at the gallery space.
Artists are provided with free accommodation in a cosy, fully equipped flat in the city centre, within walking distance from Titanik. The flat is suitable for a single artist or a couple. The artists must fund their travels as well as their living and working expenses, including food, transportation and materials.
Please prepare an individual submission, including:
– Short motivation statement (max one page, pdf file) with preferred dates of residency, and possible interest in hosting an exhibition, an artist talk, or other event
– CV (max two pages, pdf file)
– Samples of recent work as one link (for example dropbox), no attached images/files
Everything listed above must be provided in order to complete the application. Only pdf files are accepted and all work samples other than one compiled link will be dismissed. Please send your submission by e-mail to: info@titanik.fi. The closing date is 31 March 2018.
The artists for the residency programme will be selected by the Arte board together with an invited adviser.
