Artists’ run space Titanik (based in Turku, Finland) invites curators to apply for 1-2 week residencies during May, June or July 2017. The focus is both on local and international curators who are interested in connecting with Turku art scene and meeting active members of the Artists’ Association Arte who runs both Titanik and Titanik residency program. In recent years Arte is most known for its temporal projects such as ‘Valtio+’ in the former Turku county jail and ‘Parantola’ at the former tuberculosis hospital designed by Alvar Aalto. Titanik is contemporary art space founded in 1988.
For the selected curators Titanik offers travel costs (inside Finland), a fully equipped studio apartment in the city centre, a possibility to use Titanik’s office facilities and support from the staff. No special project plan is needed to apply but it is preferred that selected curators will arrange a public talk or prepare some activity to connect with local audience/artists.
Please send a short letter of interest (max 2000 characters, pdf file) explaining why are you interested in visiting Titanik and what would be your preferred time frame (from May to July 2017) to director@arte.fi. Deadline is 31 March 2017.
